Welcome to Spectrum Girls ~ Our Journey.

I’m a 34 year old mummy to 2 beautiful girls.

Both of my girls, aged 2 and 5 have been recognised as having sensory processing difficulties and Hypermobility. My eldest child is currently being assessed via the Autism Pathway, she also displays a number of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance,) traits and I like to write about this also.

In September 2016, I attended a course run by Autism West Midlands, to gain insight into Autism for my knowledge regarding my own daughter. On this day, I realised that I also have Autistic traits and I am currently going through an adult assessment for ASC (Autisitc Spectrum Condition,) which it is  now referred to as, in the county of Worcestershire, it was formally recognised as ‘Asperger’s Syndrome,’ and I do, for blogging purposes sometimes still prefer to refer to Asperger’s.

I like to share parenting experiences and enjoy helping and advising in any way I can. I am a volunteer at my local children’s centre where I help to organise and run parents support groups those who have children with additional needs.
I have 13 years experience in Childcare and Education, and I have recently completed a course in ‘Understanding Autism.’
This is my journal of my personal journey of acceptance, where I share my own journey, but also those of my 2 children.

Thanks for reading 🙂
